Henri Lloyd is a world renowned brand catering to the high performance needs of sailors and yachtsmen the world over. The brand was born and bred in Manchester, although its founder and creator was a yachting enthusiast from Poland.
In 1963 Henri Lloyd started to offer his brand to the yachting and sailing communities providing high quality clothing capable of extreme protection from the infamous foul weather at sea. He was quick to spot the benefits of new synthetic materials being produced, and was one of the first manufacturers to include these new technologies in his clothing range. The quality was so well renowned that just 3 years on in 1966; Sir Francis Chichester became the first man to circumnavigate the globe in his Gipsy Moth IV 55-foot yacht and matching Henri Lloyd gear to keep him warm and dry. In 1979, circumnavigating the globe north to south in the infamous Transglobe Expedition, Sir Ranulph Fiennes benefitted from the extraordinary protection of Henri Lloyd clothing, and in doing so got the first Pole to the both poles.
In the 1980’s, the brand started to move into the fashion clothing market, with the help of some Italian design and sophistication from designer Olmes Carretti. Since then, Henri Lloyd has increased the product range to include men’s, women’s and children’s fashion lines. Sticking close to their original sailing beginnings they offer chic casual wear in addition to high performance clothing and footwear for the yachting and sailing world.
In 2009, a year to remember in Formula 1, the Brawn GP team were bedecked in Henri Lloyd gear, being official sponsor and footwear and clothing provider. This year Henri Lloyd continues at the peak of the sport with Mercedes GP benefiting from its clothing and footwear expertise.
The footwear range has a definite maritime theme, designed to cope with the slippery surfaces of decks and boardwalks. The soles of the shoes resemble F 1 wet weather tyres, providing equally good grip in the wet. Deep razor cut channels in the soles disperse water whilst super sticky rubber gives the best possible traction. A textured toe guard keeps the toes well protected whilst offering additional grip. When getting wet is guaranteed you can rely on the shoes to dry out in super quick time, but for serious wet work Henri Lloyd offers some serious wellies.
The fully waterproof boot range offer the same level of grip, giving protection to both feet and the lower legs. Constructed out of high grade waterproof leather, they feature the Outlast® technology which was designed for NASA. It is exceptional at regulating the temperature inside the boots. A DRI-LEX lining wicks away any moisture for the perfect comfort in driving rain and howling wind. Leather deck shoes and footwear more suited to a leisurely stroll amongst the boutiques and bars of chic and trendy marinas complete the range.
For pole position, polar exploration or simply Polish endurance footwear, Henri Lloyd shoes will offer the highest protection and maximum comfort. Whether in the high temperature extremes of Formula 1 or 40 below zero in a polar exploration you can count on Henri Lloyd footwear.
